Sports:

  • Volleyball: Typically offered for both boys and girls, with variations like beach volleyball in some regions.

Cree Language and Culture Program

Cree Program Highlights:

  • Passing down Elder teachings for generations.
  • Instilling pride and identity in youth as Woodland Cree people.
  • Teaching nehiyaw language and culture.
  • Fostering values of respect and gratitude.
  • Learning from Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and community.

Program Evolution:

  • Establishment of curriculum over 20 years ago.
  • Recent expansion into Land-Based Learning Curriculum.
  • Creation of learning materials for all grade levels.
  • Preservation of Elder teachings through videos.
  • Ongoing development towards comprehensive resources for Cree Language and Culture curriculum.

Cultural Immersion:

    • Fox Lake cultural camp facility visits.
    • Hands-on cultural activities led by Elders.
    • Skills demonstrations and knowledge sharing.

Community Collaboration:

    • Development of Spoken Word Guide.
    • Creation of Nature field guide.
    • Hosting events like Culture Week.
